If Francis Ford Coppola had invested the same intensity and encountered the same problems in the making of Dracula as he did in Apocalypse Now, the resultant movie-making experience might have been very much as described in this short story. Months behind schedule, way over budget, and filming on location in Communist-controlled Romania, Coppola spends endless hours screaming at the crew and rewriting scenes. No one knows how the story will end. After two weeks of work, Harvey Keitel is fired and Martin Sheen takes over the part of Jonathan Harker. Marlon Brando signs on at the last minute to play Dracula. The setting is the same bizarre, alternate world Newman created for Anno Dracula and The Bloody Red Baron (see #191-192). |
